Select your ISP — jump straight to the fix
Rajan's neighbor had been getting free internet for three months. He did not know this until he noticed his speeds dropping every evening to nearly unusable levels. A quick look at the connected devices list on his Worldlink ONU showed four phones he did not recognize.
His Wi-Fi password was still the factory default, printed on the back of the ONU: worldlink1234. Someone in the building had simply read it or guessed it.
He changed the password that evening using the myWorldLink app. Took four minutes. The four unknown devices disappeared from the list immediately. His speeds went back to normal.
This guide covers the exact process for every major Nepal ISP. Whether you are on Worldlink, Vianet, NT Fiber, or Namaste Broadband, the steps are different for each one. Most guides mix them up. This one does not.

Sticker first, always: Before trying any default credentials, look at the sticker on the back or bottom of your ONU or router. It will show the exact gateway IP, admin username, and either the default password or the device serial number used as the default password. Nepal ISPs often set custom passwords during installation.
Worldlink Wi-Fi Password Change: myWorldLink App Method
Worldlink Nepal ko sabhaibanda thulo ISP ho, with over 10 lakh active customers across 73 districts. Here is the critical thing that many guides get wrong: Worldlink does not allow customers to access the router web interface directly. The ONU credentials are not provided to customers. The only official way to change your Wi-Fi password, view connected devices, or reboot your router is through the myWorldLink app.
🔶 Worldlink Credentials
App: myWorldLink (Play Store / App Store)
Web gateway (if accessible): 192.168.1.254
Web username: userAdmin
Support hotline (NTC): 01-5970050
Support hotline (Ncell): 9801523050
Email: [email protected]
Method A: Change Wi-Fi Password via myWorldLink App (Easiest)
1
Download and log in to myWorldLink
Search "myWorldLink" on Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone). Install it. Log in using your Worldlink customer username and password. This is not your Wi-Fi password. It is the customer account login that Worldlink set up when you subscribed. If you do not know it, call 01-5970050 to retrieve it.
2
Go to Services, then Wi-Fi
After logging in, you will see your account dashboard. Tap "Services" from the bottom navigation or main menu. Then tap "Wi-Fi" or "Internet Service." You will see your current SSID (Wi-Fi name) and options to manage it.
3
Tap "Change Password"
Find the "Change Password" button next to your Wi-Fi network name. Tap it. A new screen will open where you enter your new password. The app will also show the minimum requirements for the new password.
4
Enter new password and save
Type your new password. Make it at least 12 characters, mixing uppercase, lowercase, and numbers. Avoid using your phone number or address. Tap "Save" or "Apply." The ONU will restart Wi-Fi briefly (usually 10-30 seconds) to apply the change. All devices will be disconnected and need to reconnect with the new password.
5
Reconnect your devices
After the Wi-Fi restarts, your phone will lose connection. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find your Wi-Fi name (SSID), and connect with the new password you just set. Do the same for your TV, laptop, and other devices.
myWorldLink app ma aru features pani cha
Beyond changing the password, the myWorldLink app gives you:
Connected devices list: See every device connected to your Wi-Fi right now.
MAC filtering: Block specific devices from connecting permanently.
Router reboot: Restart your ONU remotely without touching the hardware.
Parental control: Block certain devices from internet access at specific times.
SafeNet: Filter adult content or malicious websites.
Bandwidth check: See how much data each connected device is using.
Method B: Worldlink Router Web Interface (Limited Access)
If you want to try the web interface (note: Worldlink officially does not support this for end users), here are the details:
Worldlink Web Interface
http://192.168.1.254
Username: userAdmin
Password: [printed on router sticker]
If the web interface loads: go to Network > Wireless (2.4GHz or 5GHz) > WPA Key to change the password. Click Save. However, many Worldlink ONUs block customer web access entirely, which is why the app is the reliable method.
Vianet Wi-Fi Password Change: Browser Web Interface
Vianet ko router web interface use garna milchha. Unlike Worldlink, Vianet still allows customers to access and configure their router through the browser. The process is straightforward once you have the right IP address.
🔵 Vianet Credentials
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1 (some older models: 192.168.101.1)
Username: useradmin
Password: useradmin (check sticker if this does not work)
Superadmin IP: 192.168.101.1 | user: vianet | pass: we@!sp
Support: vianet.com.np | Naxal, Kathmandu
1
Connect to your Vianet Wi-Fi
Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is connected to the Vianet Wi-Fi network (not mobile data). You must be on the same network as the router to access the admin panel. If you are on mobile data and type 192.168.1.1, it will not work or will show a random website.
2
Open browser and type the gateway IP
Open Chrome or Firefox. In the address bar (not the search bar), type exactly: http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter. Do not type it in the search bar as that will search Google instead of accessing your router. A login page should appear.
Vianet Router Login
http://192.168.1.1
Username: useradmin
Password: useradmin
If 192.168.1.1 fails, try: http://192.168.101.1
3
Log in with useradmin credentials
Enter username useradmin and password useradmin. Click Login. If these do not work, look at the sticker on the back of your ONU or router. The actual password is printed there. If someone changed it before and you do not know the new one, a router reset will be needed (see the reset section below).
4
Navigate to Wi-Fi Security Settings
After logging in, the Vianet router interface will show a menu. Go to: Internet > Wlan > Wlan Config to change the Wi-Fi name (SSID). For the password, go to: Internet > Wlan > Security. Find the field labeled "Key" or "WPA Key." This is your Wi-Fi password field.
5
Enter new password and Apply/Save
Delete the existing password in the Key field. Type your new password. Click "Apply" or "Save." The router will briefly disconnect all Wi-Fi devices while applying the change. Reconnect your devices with the new password after about 15 to 30 seconds.
Vianet 2.4GHz vs 5GHz: Most modern Vianet routers broadcast two bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. They often have separate SSID names and separate passwords. If you change the password for 2.4GHz, your 5GHz devices will still use the old password. Go through the same process for both bands in the router settings if you want to change both.
NT Fiber and Namaste Broadband Wi-Fi Password Change
Nepal Telecom's fiber service (NT Fiber / FTTH) and Namaste Broadband (formerly Dish Home / UTL Broadband) both use the standard 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 gateway with admin/admin credentials in most configurations.
🟢 NT Fiber / FTTH Credentials
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1 (try 192.168.0.1 if that fails)
Username: admin
Password: admin (or on sticker)
NT helpline: 1600 (toll-free NTC) or 01-4247000
NT support portal: ntc.net.np
🟣 Namaste Broadband Credentials
Gateway IP: 192.168.0.1
Username: admin
Password: admin (or on sticker)
Support: namastetelecom.com.np
1
Connect to your NT Fiber Wi-Fi and open browser
Make sure you are connected to the NT Fiber or Namaste Wi-Fi. Open Chrome or Firefox. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If no page loads, try http://192.168.0.1. One of these will load the router admin page.
2
Log in with admin credentials
Enter username admin and password admin. Click Login. If this does not work, check the sticker on your router. If someone changed the admin password, you will need to do a factory reset to access the panel again (see reset section below).
3
Find the Wi-Fi settings section
NT Fiber uses multiple router models from different vendors (Huawei, ZTE, Fiberhome, Raisecom). The menu structure varies. Look for "Wireless," "WLAN," "Wi-Fi," or "LAN" in the main menu. Once inside, find "Security" or "Wireless Security" to see the password field.
4
Change the password and save
Find the field labeled "WPA Key," "Password," "Pre-Shared Key," or "Passphrase." Clear the old password and type your new one. Click "Apply," "Submit," or "Save." Wait for the router to apply the change (10-30 seconds). Reconnect all devices with the new password.

How to Block Specific Devices (MAC Filtering) on Nepal Routers
Password change gardaima manchha aghi connected device harulai reconnect garna kin dine? MAC filtering le specific devices lai permanently block garna milchha, chahe tini le sahi password nai thaha bhaye pani.
Every device (phone, laptop, smart TV) has a unique MAC address, like a fingerprint. Your router can be configured to only allow specific MAC addresses to connect, or to block specific MAC addresses.
For Worldlink: MAC Filtering via myWorldLink App
1
Open myWorldLink > Connected Devices
In the myWorldLink app, go to the "Connected Devices" section. You will see every device currently connected to your Wi-Fi with its device name, IP address, and signal strength.
2
Find the unknown device and block it
Tap on any device you do not recognize. The app will show the MAC address and device name. Tap "Block" or look for MAC Filtering to add this device to the blocked list. The device will immediately lose connection and cannot reconnect even with the correct password.
For Vianet / NT Fiber: MAC Filtering via Router Admin Panel
1
Log into router admin panel
Follow the login steps for your ISP above. Vianet: 192.168.1.1 with useradmin. NT Fiber: 192.168.1.1 with admin.
2
Find MAC Filtering or Access Control
Look for "MAC Filtering," "Wireless MAC Filter," or "Access Control" in the router menu. This is usually under the Wireless or Security section. Different router models use different menu names but the function is the same.
3
Add MAC address to blacklist
Enable MAC filtering. Add the MAC address of the device you want to block. Set filtering to "Deny" (blacklist mode) or "Allow only listed" (whitelist mode). Whitelist mode is more secure: only devices you specifically add can connect. Save the settings.
How to find the MAC address of an unknown device: The connected devices list in your router admin panel shows MAC addresses for all connected devices. On your own devices: Android > Settings > About Phone > Status > Wi-Fi MAC Address. iPhone > Settings > General > About > Wi-Fi Address.
Router Reset Kasari Garnu: When You Are Locked Out
If the router admin password has been changed and you do not know the new one, factory reset is the only option. This will wipe all custom settings and restore the router to factory defaults, including the default login credentials from the sticker.
Reset garnu aghi: What you will lose
Factory reset removes ALL custom settings: your Wi-Fi name (SSID), Wi-Fi password, any port forwarding rules, MAC filter lists, parental controls, and custom DNS settings. After reset, the router goes back to the factory defaults. For Worldlink users, you will need to contact Worldlink support (01-5970050) to have them reconfigure your ONU after a reset, as they manage the ONU configuration on their end.
1
Find the reset button on your router
Look for a small pinhole or recessed button labeled "Reset" or "RST" on the back or bottom of the router. It is small to prevent accidental presses. You will need a pin, toothpick, or straightened paperclip to press it.
2
Press and hold for 10-15 seconds
With the router powered on, insert the pin and press the reset button. Hold it for at least 10 seconds. The router lights will blink or change pattern, indicating the reset is happening. Do not release until the lights change. Some routers require 15 to 30 seconds.
3
Wait for the router to reboot
After releasing the button, the router will reboot. This takes 1 to 2 minutes. The lights will cycle through a restart sequence. Once stable, the router is back to factory defaults with the credentials from the sticker.
4
Reconnect using default credentials
Connect to the default Wi-Fi name (SSID) shown on the sticker. The password will also be the default from the sticker. Then log into the admin panel and set a new custom Wi-Fi name and password. For Worldlink: call support to have them push your account configuration back to the ONU.

Frequently Asked Questions
192.168.1.1 type garda page nai load bhayena, ke garne? +
Three common causes. First, you are typing it in the search bar instead of the address bar. The address bar is where URLs go. Second, you are not connected to that Wi-Fi network. You must be on the same network as the router. Third, your router's IP is not 192.168.1.1. Use the method above to find your exact gateway IP from your device's Wi-Fi settings. For Worldlink, the correct IP is 192.168.1.254, not 192.168.1.1.
Worldlink ONU ko admin panel kasari access garnu? +
Worldlink officially does not provide ONU web interface access to customers. Their FAQ explicitly states that ONU credentials are not provided. The official method is the myWorldLink app. If you want to try the web interface, use 192.168.1.254 with username userAdmin and the password from your router sticker. Many Worldlink ONUs will load the interface, but some configurations block it entirely.
Wi-Fi password change garda internet band hunchha? +
No, your internet connection itself does not stop. What happens is the Wi-Fi portion of your ONU briefly restarts to apply the new password setting. This usually takes 10 to 30 seconds. During those seconds, all Wi-Fi devices lose connection. The internet itself (fiber or cable connection) continues running. Once the Wi-Fi comes back up, connect with the new password and everything is back to normal.
Password change garda connected devices automatically disconnect hunchha? +
Yes. When you change the Wi-Fi password, all currently connected devices (including your own phone and laptop) are immediately disconnected. They cannot reconnect until someone enters the new password. This is actually the point: the unknown or unwanted devices get kicked off and need the new password to reconnect. You then reconnect your own devices manually with the new password.
Mero router ko default password sticker ma cha tara login bhayena, ke garne? +
The installer may have changed the admin password during setup. This is common practice for security. In that case, you have two options: call your ISP support and ask them to reset the admin password for you remotely (Worldlink can do this), or perform a physical factory reset of the router using the reset button. A factory reset will restore the default credentials from the sticker.
Speed slow cha, password change le speed fast hunchha? +
If the slow speed is caused by unauthorized users sharing your connection, yes, changing the password and kicking them off will improve speed. But if the slow speed is caused by distance from the router, interference, or your ISP plan bandwidth, a password change will not help. Use the myWorldLink app or router admin panel to check how many devices are connected and how much bandwidth each is using. If you see unknown devices consuming high bandwidth, that is your answer. If all devices are your own and still slow, contact your ISP support.
2.4GHz ra 5GHz duwai network ko password same rakhnu parchha? +
No, they can have different passwords. They are separate wireless networks even though they come from the same router. Most households keep both at the same password for convenience. If you change one, the other keeps the old password unless you change it separately. 5GHz is faster but shorter range. 2.4GHz is slower but covers more distance and passes through walls better.
The Most Important Thing After Changing Your Password
Rajan found four unknown devices on his network. He changed the password, they disconnected. He then did one more thing: he turned on MAC filtering and added only his own devices to the allowed list. Now even if someone learns his new password, an unrecognized device cannot connect.
The combination of a strong password and MAC filtering is the most practical home network security setup for most Nepal households. It takes 15 minutes to set up and then runs permanently without any maintenance.
